Goin' to San Francisco

Well folks, it's Friday already. Next week I will be in San Francisco with my parents. Though since they are paying I guess I can't really complain too much.

Here is my itinerary:

Saturday 6/4/05
Leave DSM NWA 3173 @ 12:35 PM to MSP
arrive MSP @ 1:53 PM

Leave MSP NWA 369 @ 2:37 PM to SFO
arrive SFO @ 4:32 PM PST

Friday 6/11/05
Leave SFO NWA 360 @ 12:25 PM PST to MSP
arrive MSP @ 6:02 PM CST

Leave MSP NWA 3674 @ 7:27 PM to DSM
arrive DSM @ 8:52 PM

I have conference every day, even Sunday the 5th. My cell phone will work (but I may be busy), and I will probably be around Internet a bit, but not on AIM. If anything interesting happens I'll try to post it here. I guess, that is all for now. Wish me luck at WWDC.

I hope you will personally shoot Steve Jobs if these new rounds of Intel rumors are true. Damnit, I just bought a new computer, a switch like that would effectively end software support on it.

I highly doubt they are doing it, it's 100 times more likely it has something to do with WiMAX networking chips. Plus even if they did Cocoa/Objective-C has support for something called Fat Binaries, in MyApp.app/Contents/MacOS/ there is the Mach-O Darwin Executable - with fat binaries it'd put an X86 version in the same folder whenever a Cocoa supported environment executes the application it'd go to that folder and execute the compatible binary (ppc or x86.) It's had this support since the NeXTSTEP/OpenSTEP days.

Personally I think you'll get bored monday looking for a story saying Apple switched to Intel chips.

I really hope you're right, Colin.

It's just not like C|Net or WSJ to jump on something like this unless they're almost certain.

So the conference is in July, eh? ;)

Good luck anyway! I hope you have/are having a wonderful experience!

Yeah, June. Sorry.

Think about it ( http://www.greatestjournal.com/~cdw/ )

Apple would have to announce this a year in advance to give developers a chance to test and port their apps. In the mean time hardly anybody is buying PowerPC Macs AKA their main source of revenue or software that'd only run on PowerPC.

Not even iPods would be able to give Apple enough revenue to sustain itself during this period without going into backruptsy.

The Article says Apple would use Intel chips, this doesn't mean CPU's. Seriously go to www.intel.com and look, intel does make tons of networking chips, etc.

Don't you find it odd no credible Mac rumor site has remotely reported on this?

I wouldn't doubt Apple might be using Intel chips, just not Intel CPU's.

Just because it's technically pheaseable Apple could put Mac OS X on X86 doesn't mean it's plausable bussinesswise.

Oh yeah forgot about this

if you still think the Apple switching to X86 rumors could be true after reading this then I just feel sorry for you.
